Eagles fans are thrilled they finally benched Carson Wentz for Jalen Hurts
Eagles fans rejoiced as Doug Pederson made a long-awaited change.
It took until Week 13 of a desperately disappointing season, but the Philadelphia Eagles finally made a change at quarterback, benching 2016 first-round pick Carson Wentz for rookie second-round draft choice Jalen Hurts.
As the Eagles have endured an ignominious slide down the dismal NFC East, fans have grown increasingly frustrated at only seeing Hurts — whose selection raised eyebrows back in April — for a play or two in continually depressing defeats.
Head coach Doug Pederson finally heeded their calls on Sunday, however, sending Wentz to the sideline during the third quarter of the Eagles’ clash with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Eagles were trailing 20-3 when Hurts came into the game.
It did not take long for him to make a positive impact, Hurts hitting first-round rookie Jalen Reagor on a 34-yard pass that left Eagles fans wondering why it has taken so long for them to get the chance to see this connection.

He‘s so much better than Carson Wentz at not-being-completely-predictable…

THE FUTURE IS NOW

It would appear unlikely that the quarterback change will alter the direction of the NFC East.
However, if Hurts shines it could be the first sign of the end of the Wentz era in Philadelphia.
